NOTE FROM THE BAKER
I’m excited to announce Shiloh’s Pistachio Cookies 🐝 In Mercury to the Moon, Shiloh is an ancillary character who plays the part of the school nurse. Shiloh is a Vivabee—a giant bee with a honeycombed gown-esque body and big bejeweled eyes. Vivabees are healers and one of the Seven Wonders of the Solar System. Wonders are magical creatures that can inexplicably survive outside the force field. Honey elixir is a special type of honey that comes from the honeycomb of a Vivabee. In our world, “honey elixir” is simply clover honey. In Truman’s world of Aether, honey elixir is a panacea of sorts—medicinal in nature. In small doses, it can be used in desserts. Shiloh’s cookies are not mentioned until the last chapter of the book, representing the end of a journey. But as we all know, endings are merely the beginning of something new and better.
This Italian recipe is something my partner and I have perfected over the years. I make them once a month for myself. If you enjoy gooey cookies, pistachio desserts, and notes of lemon and honey, try these over a cup of coffee and your copy of Mercury to the Moon 😋 duh
